Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci was born on the 12th of November, 1961 within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast, and holds the record for being recognized with 10/10 scores in an Olympic performance. Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi later the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was only six years old. The first time she competed was at The National Junior Championships which she was 13th place in 1969. In 1970, Comaneci was crowned champion. Her first competition in the international arena was in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior event for countries of the communist bloc she took home three gold medals and in 1973 and 1974 she was the all-around junior champion. In 1975, she won four golds and one silver in her first senior international competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European Champion.
